"Say hello to my little friend!"

I had quite a suprise when I got home from church today. A snake was lying inbetween two of the stepping stones when I was going from my car to the front door.

At first I thought it might be a fake snake and was wondering, "Who put this snake here?" Then I noticed this little black tongue flicking out of it's mouth. So what did I do? Go and get my camera of course. Here are some of the pictures I took. He (I'm assuming it's a he for simplification) moved a little, but not much while I was around.

I don't know what happened to him. I think he went under the bush by the house, but I haven't seen him since. I think he was a Pacific Gardner snake, but I'm not sure.
